Shardul Thakur's half century |
In this Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season match, Mumbai, a team filled with experienced players, was completely outplayed by Jammu and Kashmir. Shardul Thakur’s 50-run innings made sure that Mumbai’s score crossed 100. Without his effort, the team’s performance would have been even worse.
Shardul Thakur's knock:
Shardul Thakur, an all-rounder, played a fantastic knock of 51 runs off 57 balls, which included 2 sixes and 5 fours. He was the team’s highest scorer. Later, Tanush Kotian added 26 runs, which helped Mumbai reach a total of 120 runs.
Most of Mumbai’s key players didn’t contribute much. Rohit Sharma got out for only 3 runs, and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored just 4. Hardik Tamore, batting at number three, managed 7 runs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane made 12 runs, while Shreyas Iyer added 11. Shivam Dubey was dismissed for a duck, as were Shams Mulani and Mohit Awasthi.
J&K Dominating Bowling:
Mumbai decided to bat first after winning the toss, but their batting lineup collapsed under the pressure of Jammu and Kashmir’s skilled bowlers. Umar Nazir was their standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 41 runs in 11 overs. Yudhveer Singh also bowled excellently, claiming 4 wickets for 31 runs in 8.2 overs. Aqib Nabidar picked up 2 wickets as well.
Mumbai’s decision to bat first backfired as they couldn’t handle Jammu and Kashmir’s strong bowling attack, leaving them with a disappointing total of just 120 runs.
